Signing-In Books

By popular request, it has been decided to bring back the signing in books (Book of Condolences) to both ends of the Lyke Wake walk.

These are located at:
Queen Catherine Hotel, Osmotherley. DL6 3AG
Ravenscar Tea Rooms, Ravenscar. YO13 0LU

This Book of Condolences has three purposes & allows you to:

• Record crossings of the Lyke Wake Walk made from Osmotherley to Ravenscar (or vice versa).
• Sign out when departing from Ravenscar or Osmotherley.
• Record comments & reminiscences about your crossing attempts of yesteryear, whether successful or unsuccessful.

These books are “open to all” so please be aware of what personal details you write here. And, since the New Lyke Wake Club is very much a “family show”, we politely request that you keep your comments suitable for all ages to read!

Please note that it is not essential to sign in at the start of the Walk or at the end. The New Lyke Wake Club would also love to hear of your crossing directly, whether by brief summary or full report. See below for contact details.

Safety is entirely the responsibility of those undertaking the Walk; Condolence Books at the ends of the Walk ARE NOT MONITORED to see whether you reached the other end or not.

Please avoid bringing vehicles into Osmotherley and Ravenscar during ‘antisocial’ hours – likewise, please be quiet around residential areas such as Scugdale. If arriving during ‘antisocial’ hours / when premises are closed please report your crossing with the New Lyke Wake Club by e-mail or online. It is not reasonable to expect premises to open just for your crossing.
