As part of the New Lyke Wake Club’s Policy to promote local activities, we are pleased to announce a donation of £200 to Ryedale Folk Museum to establish an accessible Quoits pitch.
Learning and Engagement Officer Jo Townend stated that Ryedale Folk Museum “would like to establish an accessible quoits pitch which would not only complement our historic buildings but is a game of local importance itself.
Danby, Beckhole and the surrounding villages are some of the few remaining areas which regularly compete in a ‘Northern Quoits’ league, with Danby having had a club now for well over 100 years. The installation of a functioning quoits pitch would give visitors, of every age and ability, the opportunity to enjoy playing a game that is of strong local heritage.”
