Winter Wake Saturday 9th March 2019, Swan House, Trenholme Bar
Fortunately, the 2019 Wake went smoothly, unlike the 2018 Wake which was disrupted by the “Beast from the East”. No description here, it’s all in the captions of the gallery of photographs taken that evening.
Group of hungry Dirgers featuring Debbie’s amazing fork bending trick……………………… Nick and Barbara overlooked by “deflated spirit” Prizes for “Know your Lyke Wake views” completion. Just what was in those tins? Brian Smailes, Chairman, Delivering his “Venture on these Moors if you dare” speech…………….. David Gordon, Treasurer, Telling us that as a Club, we have money and needn’t panic! Pat Fowler delivering his Doctorate thesis on the dynamic activities of the Lincolnshire Mountain Rescue Team. Pat receiving his well-earned doctorate from Claire Julie presenting Claire and Tom with their Past Master Badges for multiple services rendered to the Club Ian Evans showing the assembled Dirgers and Witches that their knowledge of the Lyke Wake Walk is disappointing……………………….. Debbie after demonstrating that the Horn is ACTUALLY capable of producing “decent tones”………………
Cake Wake Sunday 10th March 2019
A total of nine people were able to attend the informal “Cake Wake” at Lord Stones Café on the day after the formal Wake. A thoroughly morbid time was had by one and all, however, around midday, the rain turned to snow and the wind freshened with the threat of another “Beast from the East” similar to 2018, became a real, if miniaturised, possibility. In order to ensure survival, we decided to close the Wake and descend to the “green plains”! But not before these photographs were taken.
